about my art
My art is created outside of academic norms - it is an uncompromising expression that consciously questions the established canon. I work on the fringes of what is traditionally recognized as art and draw inspiration from outsider art, art brut and the anarchic spirit of naive art. Children and animals are the protagonists of my works, embodying the innocence and directness that I seek in my art. My works break rules and confront viewers with a raw, unfiltered reality. For me, art is an absolutely anarchistic act - a break with expectations, a space of freedom and a constant radical self-awareness. This approach is inextricably linked to my own biography. My experience of migration and the feeling of lifelong not belonging flow into my art and create a connection to marginalized groups. This perspective allows me to take up themes such as loneliness, alienation and identity and in doing so generate a deep emotional resonance. I understand the criticism that my art is not recognizable as an expression of my constant resistance to the expectations of the art market. For me, recognition often means a reduction to the known, while I am constantly searching for the unknown and the expansion of my creative potential. For me, art is not repetition, but a permanent risk - a challenge to constantly explore and redefine one's own creativity.
My art consists of numerous series that, despite different styles, are to be understood as a unit, as a total work of art, whereby each individual work only unfolds its full aesthetic value in the simultaneous interaction of the series. My themes revolve around personal dispositions and turning points in life - they include psychological crises, nostalgia, memories, war experiences and the search for a lost paradise. Feminism, questions of identity and philosophical concepts shape my work as much as isolation, addiction and humorous confrontations with the absurdity of life. Psychedelic experiences and the questioning of reality form an aesthetic bridge between these themes. My style is eclectic and reflects the diversity of my forms of expression: graphics, naive drawing style, children's art, art in public spaces, graffiti and post-vandalism meet digital art, optical illusions, textile works, stage design, tape art, tattoo art and multimedia. I move between literature and visual art, using language as an artistic medium in the form of concrete poetry and asemic writing, drawing connections to pop culture, comics and outsider art. In my collaborations, for example with my partner Bertram Schrettl, my daughter Gloria, visual artist Ivona Aya and music producer Ministik, a dialogue emerges that goes beyond individual art and explores the potential of collective creativity. My work is an artistic act of resistance against categorizations and an invitation to see the world with different eyes - unconventional, raw and deeply human.
